Using science to help raise human awareness — Prof. Si-Chen Lee and the origins of Aqive

On 13 July 2020, in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, the co-founders of Aqive found themselves gathered in a meeting room at National Taiwan University, talking about how brainwave analysis and torsion field technology might help raise human awareness. That conversation is what set Aqive in motion…

Contemporary science holds that only about 4% of the observable universe is made of ordinary matter — the air our noses breathe, the food our mouths enjoy, the music our ears take in, the mountains and rivers our eyes see on the ground, the sun and moon and stars we see when we look up. Solid, gas or liquid, all of it is made of atoms and various energy fields.

The remaining 96% is made of dark matter and dark energy, which science currently cannot account for: dark matter makes up 23% and dark energy 73%. Only a slim 4% of the universe is something today's science can explain.

Aqive co-founders 👨‍🔬Prof. Si-Chen Lee, former President of National Taiwan University, and 👨‍🔬Dr. Hsiung-Kuang Tsai have spent decades researching qigong, brainwaves, torsion fields and the range of human potential, pushing at the frontier of science and exploring territory it cannot yet explain. Both came to feel strongly that refusing to study unexplained phenomena — taking today's scientific understanding as the boundary of what may be investigated — would be a kind of self-imposed limit, and a brake on human progress. And to assume outright that humanity already grasps every secret of the universe would be an arrogance quite out of keeping with a scientific attitude.

Co-founder 💁‍♂️Bill Koh (Koh Chan Guan) is a technology entrepreneur from Southeast Asia. As the internet rose, he used information technology to help traditional industries innovate, riding the power of the network to take businesses to a new level, and founded several companies in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. While studying Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), he came to see that the force driving a business forward is not technology alone: the awareness of the people inside it has to grow too. Only with people and technology side by side does a company keep moving.

Another co-founder, 💁‍♂️Yves Lin, has spent years bringing agile development and agile management to a range of industries. Helping companies meet the challenges of the digital era and transform, he found that the traditional command-and-control model had become far less effective for organizations, and that the real question was how to raise the willingness and engagement of team members. Silicon Valley leaders such as Google have gone as far as combining brain science with mindfulness techniques to design the SIY (Search Inside Yourself) program, promoting a minute of mindful sitting at the start of a meeting so that participants are more present and the meeting itself works better. For Yves Lin, a company's growth depends on the growth of its people, and people grow as their focus and awareness grow; in the information age, people are what keeps an organization running smoothly.

Co-founder and head of the torsion field laboratory 💁‍♂️Bruce Liao has a deep passion for electronics and electrical engineering. He was winning electronics competitions in secondary school and took part in industry research projects and product development while still studying. Using what he knows best to build machines that change the world and help people has been his preoccupation throughout.

Out of those discussions about how to apply mindfulness and brainwave research, Prof. Si-Chen Lee, Dr. Hsiung-Kuang Tsai, Bill Koh, Yves Lin, Bruce Liao and the other founders decided to form Aqive. Its members reach from leading academic work to hands-on industry, drawing together electrical engineering, energy fields, torsion fields, brainwaves, chemistry, materials, information technology, brain science and business management. They hold to a core spirit for helping people navigate the S.E.A. of consciousness: Scientific — verified through scientific method; Effective — offering feedback so that iteration keeps growing; Awareness — raising awareness and focus.
